The next statewide elections are for the Virginia General Assembly. The Primary was June 20 and the General Election is November 7, 2023. See the calendar and offices to be voted on here.

Registration
Beginning with the 2022 General Election, the Virginia General Assembly approved legislation that provides Virginia voters the ability to register at any time, up to and including Election Day. This registration may be done in person at your local voter registration office or satellite location during the early voting period. On Election Day, voters must register at polling place for the precinct in which they reside. Voters who use this option will cast a provisional ballot. – The deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration and cast a non-provisional ballot is 7 days prior to Election Day.
– Voters may register the week prior to Election Day and on Election Day and vote using a provisional ballot.

Absentee/Mail-n Ballots
Ballot Request Deadline: Your local voter registration office must receive your mail-in ballot request by 5 pm on October 27 for the November 7 General Election. You may request a mail-in ballot in person until November 4.
Ballot Requirements: Completed mail-in ballots require a witness signature.
Ballot Return Deadline – By Mail: Completed ballots returned by mail must be postmarked by Election Day and received by your local voter registration office by noon on the third day following Election Day. USPS recommends mailing your ballot back at least 7 days before Election Day.
Ballot Return Deadline – In Person: Completed ballots can be hand-delivered to your local voter registration office, any polling place within your county or city, or another ballot drop-off location before 7 pm on Election Day.
Ballot Status: Track your absentee ballot at Ballot Scout.

Early Voting
– Early voting at your local voter registration office or early voting location begins 45 days before Election Day.
